Essential Functions:
- Serve as the company’s technical authority for a family of product line systems and corresponding programs and proposals; serve as the technical point of contact for customers.
- Serve as the systems engineering functional lead for the product line teams’ lead engineers.
- Review, analyze, and understand system concept of operation, product architectures, design, and interfaces, and subsystem functions, interfaces, and operations; facilitate knowledge sharing across the project teams.
- Plan, coordinate, and proactively monitor engineering development, laboratory, range, and live fire testing, and low rate initial production at System and SoS levels.
- Able to succinctly and effectively brief status and results to program and customer senior leadership.
- Perform technical analysis / feasibility assessments for new product specifications, evaluate customer specifications, lead multi-discipline trade studies, and lead technical proposal generation.
- Interface effectively with people at all levels and from diverse technical backgrounds.
- Provide leadership to teams and guidance to less experienced staff members.
- Possess exquisite interpersonal skills, able to work effectively within the organization and convey decisions, direction, results, and conclusions in a manner meaningful to the audience.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and a minimum of 15 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
- Mastery level knowledge within a specific technical area or multiple job areas, typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience. Viewed as an expert and/or resource within the field by peers in and outside the organization.
- Demonstrated service as a Program Chief Engineer for a minimum of two years on a large program (i.e., contract value > $100M) with major subcontracts (e.g., at least two suppliers each with a contract value > $5M).
- Demonstrated leadership experience in product line system development and production programs.
- Experience with System Integration Lab utilization to reduce field testing demands, and leading multiple subcontract efforts during integration and test.
- Demonstrated ‘One Team’ collaboration and team building mindset, with internal subsystem team and multiple external suppliers, teammates, platform providers, and DoD organizations across all product lifecycle phases.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work well within and outside of the organization including customers, vendors, and company or program leadership without oversight.
Preferred Additional Skills:.
- Military customer experience is desired.
- Strong perference for Naval/Maritime program experience.
- Contract and supplier negotiation experience is preferred.
- Previous experience with Infrared (IR), Electro-Optical (EO), or equivalent sensor systems, electronic systems or weapons systems.
- Prior program experience with logistical support of fielded systems.
- Previous Program Chief Engineer experience on two or more programs, with at least one program > $250M.
