The Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (SEIT) group is seeking Hardware Systems Integration Engineers to develop and maintain product development systems. Reporting to the Integration and Test Lead, and as a member of a cross-functional integration team, the Integration Engineer will collaborate with research and product development teams in providing state of the art, common, and reliable test platforms that enable new capabilities. Due to the unique environments required for superconductivity, these systems require a combination of commercial and custom hardware, low temperature or ultra-low temperature systems, and digital or microwave engineering. This is a hands-on position with an opportunity to gain experience in a cross-functional area of science and engineering.
The Hardware Systems Integration Engineer will:
- Design, develop, deploy, and maintain systems which support the research and development of superconducting electronics
- Install and configure commercial and custom test equipment to populate the system including the wire out of cabling and racks, installation of custom mechanical assemblies, install and configure cryogenic components.
- Create designs, drawings, documentation, and software to support integration activities.
- Own the operation, configuration, and maintenance of one or more development systems.
- Coordinate usage of their systems with product development teams and researchers to meet their goals.
- Debug hardware, software, cabling, mechanical, electrical, and cryogenic problems on systems in order to ensure reliable, high quality performance and results.
- As members of the SEIT organization, they will implement and spread the adoption of standard processes, configuration management, and good engineering practices
- Implement state of the art practices and technologies from related academic fields and industry
- Collaborate with external vendors and internal engineering groups on the development of commercial and custom hardware
- Apply systems thinking and sound systems engineering practices in a R&D organization
