Electrical Engineer
  • Designing, overseeing manufacturing, construction and installation of Marine electrical and electronic systems.
  • Ensure designs meet regulatory, company and customer standards related to electrical installations.
  • Responsible for design of electrical and control systems including integration of components provided by outside companies e.g. engines, transformers, etc.
  • Issue drawings for use by engineering, production, and service on a schematic and installation level for AC and DC power and distribution and control system integration.
  • Examples are battery wiring, shore power AC schematic, CAN buss layout, flybridge schematics, AC/DC distribution, and others.
  • Layout and design of electrical systems for new systems.
  • Design wire harnesses, including routing through boats, wire sizing, and create and maintain information related to automated wire cutting and labeling for harness prefabrication.
  • Design and analyze harnesses and component layouts and to generate drawings.
  • Create and maintain production BOM for current and new designs; create part number descriptions for new components.
  • Use Syteline MRP to access Sales, BOM, and part information.
  • Write Engineering Change Orders and Service Directives (and other documents) to inform organization when changes are required.
  • Develop power distribution and monitoring systems for efficiency in manufacturing and to improve user experience.
  • Understand control systems and determine wiring and ship integration requirements and provide timely information to wire shop and component installation departments.
  • BS Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 3 years experience with electrical and electronic system design.
  • Experience with instrumentation and controls (I&C) design and installation.
  • Experience with CAN bus, PLCs, AC/DC marine electrical systems, and circuit protection.
  • Experience with AutoCAD required.
  • Experience with Inventor, AutoCAD Electrical and SolidWorks is a plus.
  • Experience with Marine, NEC, ISO, and CE standards.
