Mechanical Engineer Engineering and design of mechanical assemblies, automation systems, and other related systems for precision deep-hole drilling machines and special purpose industrial equipment. Job includes completion of machine layout drawings, required calculations, component specification, and other documentation.
BS in Mechanical Engineering, Mech. Eng. Technology, or related degree
Minimum 2 – 5 years’ experience in design of manufacturing equipment or industrial machinery
Applied mathematical skills and mechanical analysis ability
Design components and sub-systems of precision drilling machines, including tooling, fixtures, and automation systems
Analyze mechanical systems including bearings, drive belts, ball screws, torque & HP requirements, machine components, and structural weldments for assurance of function and suitability of use
Draft details of mechanical components of machines, itemized assembly drawings, floor plan layouts, and installation diagrams using AutoCAD
Design hydraulic and pneumatic systems and create schematic drawings
Determine suitability and specify purchased components used in construction of machines
Create bills of materials for machine assemblies and sub-assemblies
Communicate with customers to clarify machine requirements
Communicate with component suppliers to stay abreast of current product developments
Interface with fabrication, machine shop, and assembly departments to complete construction of machines, including revision of drawings and incorporation of suggestions as they occur
Complete operation & maintenance manuals and other related documentation for completed machines
