Field Service Technician

Field Service Technician
Will support Lead Field Technician and field service team by preparing equipment, assisting on projects, and providing shop support when field work is not active.
 
  • Work under senior technicians to gather, organize, and stage all equipment, tools, and materials required for upcoming projects.
  • Maintain readiness of test equipment, rigging gear, consumables, and specialty tools.
  • Serve as the first-choice shop support resource for the field service team during active projects.
  • Accompany the Lead Field Technician on site to assist with setup, testing, troubleshooting, and hands on technical work.
  • Train in key shop departments as assigned when field service work is not active, following the rules and instructions of the lead technician for that area.
  • Develop mechanical, electrical, and logistical skills that directly contribute to field service readiness.
  • Assist with equipment reconditioning, repairs, and preparation under the direction of shop leadership.
  • Provide backup support for urgent shop needs during ongoing field service projects.
 
  • Participate in documenting preparation and support procedures for the field service team.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and eagerness to learn technical skills.
  • Detail oriented, organized, and meticulous in handling tools, materials, and documentation.
  • Willingness to work in both shop and field environments, including travel to customer sites.
  • Resilient and steady under pressure, able to adapt to demanding schedules and plainspoken communication styles.
  • Willingness to travel by air or car as needed - valid driver’s license is required.
  • Flexibility to occasionally work overtime and weekends based on project demands.

Pluses
  • Experience in medium or high voltage distribution equipment electrical testing, maintenance, or repair.
  • Prior electrical field service experience, especially in substations.
  • Mechanical experience, including fabrication or welding.
  • Background in mechanical or electrical engineering.
  • Experience in construction or industrial project coordination.
  • Experience operating or working with cranes, forklifts, and rigging equipment.
  • Exposure to heavy equipment scheduling and transportation.
  • Experience working cross functionally with technicians, contractors, or field crews.
