Satellite Mission Ops Manager — Key Summary

Lead a team of spacecraft operators and manage mission operations, ground infrastructure, and on-orbit activities. Role covers mission design, planning, spacecraft testing, operations, and anomaly resolution in a fast-paced environment.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead development of spacecraft CONOPS, mission planning, and operational simulations

  • Build, train, and manage the spacecraft operations team

  • Support flight software configuration, spacecraft checkout, and pre-launch testing

  • Conduct on-orbit operations, data analysis, and anomaly resolution

  • Develop mission planning, orbit determination, and automation tools (Python)

  • Interface with customers and ground station networks

  • Collaborate with spacecraft systems engineering

  • Work flexible hours as needed to support mission ops

Required Experience

  • Team leadership in spacecraft operations

  • Automated mission ops development

  • Mission CONOPS planning/execution

  • Python programming and mission-design tools (FreeFlyer, STK, etc.)

  • Data analysis for performance validation and anomaly detection

  • Ground segment and comm-chain familiarity

  • Strong technical and communication skills

Desired Experience

  • Spacecraft avionics, failure modes, and debugging

  • Orbital mechanics and OD techniques

  • GN&C simulation/testing

  • DoD/USG program experience; ability to hold a clearance

Education

  • BS in Aerospace Engineering or related field

  • 10+ years relevant experience
