Digital Systems Architect-Sr Specialist

Essential Functions:

  • Support and/or lead technical proposals, including decomposition of customer requirements into unit or system architecture/design, technical writing, technical risk management, cost estimating, etc.
  • Ensure the logical and systemic conversion of customer or product requirements into total system solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Lead technology development activities and support business development.
  • Perform technical planning, unit and system integration, verification and validation activities in support of programs and Digital Unit/System development efforts.
  • Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements, and allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
  • Perform Cost, Risk, and Supportability and Effectiveness analyses for total digital communication systems (concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance & disposal).
  • Work in a highly dynamic engineering integration lab.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 6 years of experience as a Systems Engineer
                                                                  - or-
  • Graduate Degree with a minimum of 4 years prior related experience. Preference for BSEE in Electrical or Electronics Engineering

Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience in the architecture, specification, design, implementation, simulation, test, verification, validation, and debugging of digital based units, systems, avionics systems, and/or control systems
  • Experience using hardware description languages (VHDL preferred)
  • Experience with digital hardware design including FPGAs, Processors, Memory, data converters, etc
  • Knowledge of military and/or NASA component specifications, design processes, and hardware test/verification procedures
  • Background in systems engineering and high-reliability environments
  • Excellent verbal communication, writing, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated complex problem solving and decision making — Able to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions; able to consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate solution
  • Experience with GPS and RF digital signal processing, forward error correction coding and decoding, encryption/decryption, waveforms, and data protocols in FPGAs is a plus
  • Experience with Actel FPGAs is a plus
