This is a 3 plus month assignment that could go long term or direct.

The Electronic Fabricator  performs advanced electromechanical fabrication, assembly, repair, and flight‑hardware production in a controlled laboratory environment. This role relies on expert‑level technical skills, strict adherence to procedures, and the ability to mentor junior technicians while supporting high‑reliability aerospace and engineering programs.

Key Responsibilities

Fabrication & Assembly

• Perform work from sketches, engineering drawings, schematics, and detailed fabrication procedures.

• Fabricate, assemble, and repair cables, harnesses, and electromechanical hardware.

• Build, modify, and repair flight hardware in a certified Flight Hardware production lab.

• Modify and repair commercial off‑the‑shelf (COTS) hardware as required.

• Conduct printed circuit board assembly and repair, including cleanliness verification, demoisturization, masking/de‑masking, and conformal coating.

• Perform electromechanical operations such as soldering, crimping, staking, swaging, torqueing, and marking.

Process Compliance & Documentation

• Follow all documented procedures, task performance sheets, discrepancy report interim dispositions, WADs, and laboratory policies.

• Identify existing or potential issues during design review, fabrication, modification, or repair and communicate concerns immediately.

• Produce accurate documentation and maintain traceability in accordance with controlled stock, ESD, and FOD requirements.

Laboratory Operations

• Conduct parts and calibrated tool inventory; perform general laboratory duties as assigned.

• Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work area.

• Support extended work schedules, including after‑hours and weekend work when required.

• Mentor and coach less‑skilled technicians to improve team capability.

Certifications & Proficiencies (Required to Obtain and Maintain)

• Surface‑mount soldering

• Thru‑hole soldering

• Crimping and interconnects (cables, harnesses, wiring)

• Conformal coating and staking

• Electrostatic discharge (ESD) control

• Lithium battery handling

• Foreign Object Debris (FOD) control

Required Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent and 12+ years of experience in electronic or electromechanical fabrication.

• Expert ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.

• Proficient in reading and interpreting electronic engineering drawings and fabrication procedures.

• Strong knowledge of ESD, FOD, controlled stock handling, and electromechanical laboratory safety practices.

• Expert‑level soldering skills (SMT and thru‑hole).

• Strong organizational and problem‑solving abilities; able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

• Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.

• Ability to provide manufacturability guidance and support.

• Experience with hands‑on work involving tools, meters, electrical hardware, and assembly/test activities.

• Ability to work at client sites as required.

• Proficiency with standard productivity tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

• Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals; performs highly skilled work at the expert level.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience handling NASA flight hardware.

• Knowledge of quality inspection processes.

• Experience supporting spaceflight or ISS payloads, spaceflight hardware, or related ground support equipment.

• Experience with embedded systems design, avionics upgrades, and legacy system troubleshooting.

• Experience developing vendor‑ready build packages (BOMs, fabrication drawings, component lists).

• Experience supporting environmental testing of spaceflight hardware.

Physical Requirements

Occasional:

• Reaching, handling, and manipulating materials in all directions.

• Lifting up to 20 lbs from ground level, waist level, and overhead.

• Standing.

• Carrying up to 20 lbs for distances up to 5 yards.

Frequent:

• Coordinating eyes, hands, and fingers to operate tools and equipment.
