Seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to join our team of qualified individuals. The position will be located in Fairfax, VA. The qualified applicant will become part of a team that will be working closely with the DoD customer to prioritize functionality, structure sprints, and deliver rapid iterations. Candidate will contribute to the development of new concepts, techniques, and standards, is considered expert in the Linux system administration field, demonstrates skills and ability to perform complex tasks, and is able to communicate effectively and present technical approaches and findings clearly.
Roles and Responsibilities:
•             Maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems and in accordance with customer's security policies and directives
•             Supports planning, deployment, maintenance, and enhance system baseline configurations and security posture through administrative, preventive, detective, and reactive controls, such as system baseline management, change and configuration management, anti-virus measures and patch management
•             Maintains technical expertise in all areas of computer hardware, Linux operating system software, security and supporting technologies and protocols
May propose solutions to management to ensure all system requirements are based on future needs and current usage, configuring such solutions to optimize cost savings
•             Prepares or ensures that appropriate system documentation exists, including operational instructions     
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills and abilities listed below: •       Bachelor’s Degree in a technical or engineering discipline with at least 12 years related experience, at least 8 years systems engineer/administrator experience with Linux systems •      Linux LPIC-2 or equivalent certification •           Security + or equivalent certification

 Experience with installing, configuring and troubleshooting; Veritas, Apache, Tomcat, and Java applications software • Experience loading and configuring Linux operating systems, problem resolutions • Experience installing a variety of applications on Linux/Unix platforms •             Experience performing system backups, maintaining archives, and data recovery •            Knowledge and experience with shell script languages such as Korn Shell, Bourne Shell, C Shell, and Perl •              Ability to manage assigned tasks, interacts with internal and external customers and development teams, and clearly communicates status information •       Highly driven, self-managed individual who demonstrates initiative and proactively seeks solutions to problems • Highly developed problem analysis and critical thinking experience. •      Demonstrated experience with understanding the high level impact and detailed requirements associated with Hardware / OS performance analysis and tuning, enhancements and corrective actions •              Candidate should be able to work independently or as a member of a team on complex tasks •        U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and hold a DoD Common Access Card • Familiar with Kickstart/AutoYAST/Satellite Server Preferred Qualifications: Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration: •      Experience working with Storage Area Networks and Network Attached Storage •       Experience with Unix/Linux monitoring tools
