Experience Requirements:

  • Practical experience maintaining and troubleshooting shipboard surface search radar systems required).
  • Practical experience writing technical reports and documenting maintenance and troubleshooting activities.
  • Familiar with the US Navy shipboard installation planning processes (desired).
  • Familiar with shipboard safety procedures including electrical tag-outs, working aloft procedures, hazardous material handling and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Working knowledge of Change Requests & Engineering Change Proposals on Navy shipboard systems.
  • Familiar with Radar Logistics Support elements including configuration management, training, documentation, and supply support.
  • Familiar with the operation of the Navy Supply System and repair parts ordering.
  • Interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills.
  • Personal computer skills (competent with MS Office applications).
 

Position Description:

  • Support engineering efforts related to development, testing and analysis of Multi Mode (Surface Search) Radar design and development. 
  • Provide assistance to maintain and troubleshoot the new Multi Mode (Surface Search) Radar.  Document results of maintenance, troubleshooting and problem resolution actions. Provide distance support and/or shipboard troubleshooting for fleet CASREPs and requests for technical assistance.
  • Assist in the development of Ship Installation Drawings (SIDs) and Ship Alteration Records (SAR), which reflect system installation plans and configurations.
  • Prepare lab and classrooms spaces in support of radar development (new acquisition as well as legacy radar systems).
  • Act as liaison with RMC/RM MCO to ensure proper processing of installation data and schedule requirements necessary for the unimpeded check-in processing of Alteration Installation Teams (AITs).
  • Perform   post   installation   light-off,   checkout and sell-off,   including   System Operational Verification Test (SOVT) and On-the-Job Training (OJT).
