Software Engineer/Firmware

The Software/Firmware Engineer will:
  • Support teams of engineers designing, developing and modifying new and existing spacecraft avionics and software projects.
  • Develop new and integrated tools needed for network and flight software scheduling.
  • Provide support using TTE-related core flight software apps.
  • Perform startup and limited troubleshooting of Avionics and Software test rig for testing and demonstration.
  • Implement A&S test rig configuration changes between tests using TTE scheduling and CCDD tools.
  • Perform configuration management for the test rig - maintain versioning records for components that make up test rig, with support of SMEs.
  • Provide input on request for planning and coordinating test objectives/schedules.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education/Experience/Skills:
  • BS degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school and a minimum of ten (10) years of direct engineering experience, or a MS degree from an accredited engineering school and eight (8) years of direct engineering experience, or Ph.D. degree and four (4) years direct engineering experience.
  • Experience with:
    • Developing software on embedded computers with Linux.
    • C programming for embedded computers or a real-time environment.
    • Time Triggered Ethernet (TTE).
    • Python or some other high level scripting language.
    • Knowledge of networking in real-time environments or scheduled networks.
    • Developing software for analog and digital electronics, working with data acquisition systems and microprocessors.
  • Must have good communication and organization skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Prior experience with:
    • Implementing real-time safety-critical software
    • FPGA digital logic design software
    • Build tools
    • Networking
    • Bluetooth
    • Familiarity with Qt for GUI development
    • System and software configuration management
    • Hardware and software integration
    • ISS flight software development processes and tools
    • Data acquisition and processing
    • microcontrollers
    • Algorithm development
    • User Interface/User Experience Design
    • Real-Time Execution
    • Automated code analysis tools such as PC
    • Unit and Integration Testing
    • Communication and Middleware Frameworks

    • NASA spaceflight project development is desired
