Description
 
Cryogenics thermal engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. 

Successful candidates will research and implement new thermal management technologies, develops analytical models to predict thermal performance of cryogenic systems, and designs, develops, and performs testing on thermal systems operating in the cryogenic realm.  The ideal engineer will have experience in developing detailed thermal models, interfacing with hardware designed for cryogenic systems (including dewars and refrigerators), and have some mechanical design experience.
 
This position focuses on developing hardware and testing facilities designed to be cooled with liquid helium.  Knowledge of liquid helium operations is a plus.  Knowledge of thermal analysis software (COMSOL, IcePak, Sinda/Fluint) or similar platforms is preferred.  The ability to work with an integrated product team of diverse engineers is necessary.  The ability to follow, improve, and develop cryogenic thermal engineering processes is desirable.  Knowledge of cryogenic safety systems is a plus.
 
Qualifications
 Basic Qualifications 2:
  • Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, or related field, specializing in thermodynamics, with 2 or more years of cryogenic experience or a M.S Degree with 0 years experience.
  • Hands on experience handling liquid helium
  • Computer skills in thermal analytical tools
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in an interactive group environment are essential
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance, U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite
Basic Qualifications 3:
  • Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, or related field, specializing in thermodynamics, with 5 or more years of cryogenic experience, a M.S Degree with 3 years experience or a Ph. D with 0 years experience.
  • Hands on experience handling liquid helium
  • Computer skills in thermal analytical tools
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in an interactive group environment are essential
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance, U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite.
  • Ability to get a Secret or higher clearance
