We are looking for Laboratory Research Support to the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWC DD) on special requirements and services relating to engineering, technical, scientific analysis and operations for the chemical and biological Research and Development (R&D) and Science & Technology (S&T) Laboratory programs and projects for the Chemical, Biological, Radiological (CBR) Defense Division.  
 
Duties include but are not limited the following:
• Support the operability of designated hardware, software, and associated peripheral support equipment
• Design, develop and deploy test equipment, targets, vehicles, and fixtures; test beds shall include electronic computer test beds, Chemical and Biological Systems, laboratories, and projects, and other related test beds
• Support biology, chemistry, materials, and quality assurance research laboratory operations and provide expertise and access to data in direct support of operations and in the fields related to basic fundamental Chemical and Biological Defense research (Microbiology, Chemistry, and Biochemistry)
• Set up, process, and evaluate complex chemical, biological, and physical tests and experiments
• Assist in conducting non-routine qualitative and quantitative analysis of materials in support of the development of new products, materials, and/or processing methods
• Assist in the operation of a wide variety of laboratory test equipment and apparatus including prototype systems and pilot line equipment 
• Prepare and process experimental operations involving complex formulations, precise calibration, difficult sampling and advanced experimental techniques and advanced concepts
• Provide input to the Verification, Validation, and Accreditation (VV&A) plans for the use of models, simulations, and simulators/stimulators
• Participate in design and program reviews and audits to identify and implement program design and development goals and requirements.
• Provide test, evaluation, and analysis support involving the design, development, and utilization of electronic test beds, including generating plans detailing test bed development
• Setup, teardown, and clean experimental apparatus and perform test object preparation and characterization.  
• Perform routine experimental work regarding dissemination and application of solution and test objects.
• Monitor on-site and laboratory testing, record data, and assist in data reduction, analysis, and authentication
• Review and analyze test results and emerging performance data 
 
 
Skills and experience required/desired: 
 
Required:
BS in Biology, Chemistry or related discipline
Physical/biological/chemical science or equivalent experience. Excludes those with full supervisory responsibilities.
 
Desired
  • Experience setting up, performing, and evaluating complex chemical, biological and/or physical tests and experiments under the guidance and direction of professional staff members.
  • Experience assisting in non-routine qualitative and quantitative analysis of materials in support of the development of new products, materials and/or processing methods.
  • Experience assisting in the operation of a wide variety of laboratory test equipment and apparatus including prototype systems and pilot line equipment.
  • Experience assisting in the preparation and processes for experimental operations involving complex formulations, precise calibration, difficult sampling, advanced experimental techniques and advanced concepts.
  • Experience assisting in the design test procedures and preparation of test reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a biological or physical research facility.
  • Must have clearance at the Secret level or higher 
  • Must have excellent written and communication skills.
