Systems Analyst/ Engineer – Advanced Ballistic and Non-Ballistic Threats (805)

The Systems Concepts and Requirements (SC&R) product team of the National Team is seeking individuals who are creative and think-out-of-the-box to perform end-to-end analysis for the defeat of advanced ballistic and non-ballistic threat systems within the Missile Defense Agency’s (MDA) mission area and to expand concepts and capabilities for the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS). Individual will conduct analyses of advanced and emergent threats using MATLAB based modeling and simulation tools to support system engineering for development of system and sub-system performance requirements. Individual will support technical interchange meetings with government and industry subject matter experts to analyze and formulate performance for system-of-system level requirements specifications. Individual will work in a cross-discipline product team and routinely interface with National Team groups, technical leaders, and government personnel performing analysis tasks. The individual will document and defend analysis results in reports and briefings for SC&R and National Team stakeholder review. Candidate’s on-the-job performance may lead to assignment in more senior roles. This position is in Huntsville, AL.

Required Skills:

Individual must have a technical background in numerical modeling and simulation of advanced threats using a high level programming language such as MATLAB, Python, FORTRAN, or similar language environment. Candidate must demonstrate ability to think critically to develop and capture concepts in technical papers, presentations, and discussions. Candidate must demonstrate ability to perform qualitative and quantitative evaluations, assessments and characterizations of ballistic, non-ballistic, and hypersonic concepts across all phases of a missile defense or similar kill chain. Experience modeling or simulating missile defense applications or similar domains (air combat, air defense, intercept of ballistic targets, intercept of non-ballistic targets, space vehicles, sub-orbital mechanics, etc.). Modeling and analysis experience in aspects of the Ballistic missile defense system (e.g., Aegis Weapons Systems, Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD), Fire Control, C2BMC, BMDS sensors (EO/IR/RF), kill vehicles, interceptors, countermeasures, etc.). Systems engineering experience with medium-to-large, complex systems.
