Company in Pasadena is looking for a Ground Software System Engineer with an active U.S. Government Top Secret (TS) security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) accesses. Successful candidate will have the opportunity to support exciting projects with NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 


•Develop concept of operation (CONOP), system architecture, use cases and software requirements 
•Develop ground and enterprise requirements based on CONOPs 
•Evaluate ground architecture and determine required network interface and communication needs 
•Coordinate component-level software requirements, software interfaces, and detailed software design details with developers to satisfy CONOPs use-cases 
•Evaluate security architecture, external interfaces and system discrepancy reporting 
•Perform functional analysis, latency analysis or detailed trade studies 
•Evaluate Ground Hardware and Software Acquisition and Test Strategies 
•Review program for technical risks and recommend mitigation approaches 
•Participate as a reviewer in working groups, engineering review boards, design reviews, test readiness reviews, operational readiness reviews, etc. 
•May perform other duties as assigned 
Security Clearance: 
Qualified applicants will be subject to a security investigation and must meet minimum qualifications for access to classified information. 

U.S. Citizenship and an active TS/SCI are required. 

Education Work Experience: 

•Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, System Engineering or related technical discipline with a minimum of 6 years of related experience 
Required Skills: 

•Systems engineer with recent Ground Systems Engineering experience 
•Experience across multiple engineering disciplines to include: systems engineering, software development, and integration and test 
•Experience with mission integration, data processing and external interface management 
•Program lifecycle experience from concept development and design to deployment and operational maintenance 
•Experience with requirements development, interface control documentation, technical specification review, architecture and CONOPS development 
•Working proficiency with IBM Rational DOORS or similar requirements management tool
 
Desirable Skills: •Ability to identify system impacts and pitfalls associated with operational ground systems •Familiar with various software languages (e.g. Java, C/C++,Python, XML, JSON, MATLAB) and support tools (e.g. JIRA, GIT, Artifactory, Confluence, Jenkins, Docker) •Knowledgeable about Cloud Solutions (e.g. AWS) •Familiar with modeling framework concepts (e.g. DODAF, OSI), system or software modeling languages (e.g. SysML, UML) •Familiar with JPL, NASA, or DoD practices and standards
