JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsible for managing the functionality and efficiency of one or more operating systems. Duties may include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software, validating and implementing critical system patches, and allocating mass storage space. Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products. Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery. At the more senior (exempt) levels, this family evolves into the development of policies and standards related to the use of computing resources, overall strategy, design, implementation, and operational aspects of multiple systems, operating environments, and related software. Schedules, plans, and oversight of system upgrades. Develops functional requirements through interaction with end-users and coordinates with development team on systematic enhancements or changes. Managers set the specific duties and responsibilities for each employee). SCOPE: Under close supervision, performs a variety of routine tasks associated with monitoring and controlling computer operating systems in a client/server environment. Assists in installation, modification, testing and repairs on data communications network equipment. Establishes user computer accounts. Performs routine hardware/software moves, adds and changes. May assist users in purchasing standard computer supplies or minor terminal equipment. PROBLEM COMPLEXITY: Works on assignments that are routine in nature where limited judgment is required. IMPACT: Decisions or failure to achieve results may cause delays in schedules. LIAISON: Interacts daily with supervisors and/or functional peer groups. FREEDOM TO ACT: Normally receives detailed instructions on all work. LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT: KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS AND ABILITY: This is the entry level position in the job family where the employee applies the basic fundamental, concepts, practices, and procedures to acquire the knowledge and experience to become proficient in the job. TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school education or equivalent and 1+ years of related data processing experience. Knowledge of personal computer and server processes and network operations is preferred.

After six months the position can be convert over to permanent. - The customer requires the candidate to be on site. SAIC will provide relocation assistance upon request. - Must have a Secret Clearance before beginning the task. - Must have a current CompTIA Security Plus Certification before beginning task. - After 90 days of beginning the task, the candidate will need to require certification of the environment, such as (MTA, MSCA or MCSE) - The candidate will need to take a drug test before beginning the task.
