Candidate will administer Red Hat Linux workstations for scientific users. Administers Mac systems (laptops, desktops and servers) running the latest Apple macOS release. Upgrades and patches Red Hat and macOS systems. Provide user support for scientific community for desktop systems and infrastructure services (backups, file servers, web servers, email, etc.). Provide web updates for internal web sites geared toward users and system administrators. Monitor user systems and servers supported by the team of system administrators. Troubleshoot hardware and software problems on systems. Use and enhance applications and tools to automate system administration support. Provide after-hours support on a weekly rotating basis with other system administrators. Install, upgrade and troubleshoot applications on user systems
Required: 5-7 years of experience in Linux system administration. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field preferred. Experience working with computer hardware for installation and upgrades. Experience working with software installation/upgrading procedures. Experience working with Linux servers. Experience with shell scripting and programming. Web programming knowledge such as Python. Experience with Oracle or mysql databases. Demonstrated experience with LAMP Stack. Demonstrated experience with RHEL Satellite and management tools such as CFEngine, Puppet or Ansible. Knowledge of JAMF Pro. Experience with Configuration Management Processes. Experience with Documentation Standards. Good organizational skills to balance and prioritize work. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot system problems. Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate with support personnel, customers, users and managers. Ability to work as a team member or independently.
No Security Clearance needed. Candidate must be able to pass a background check that will result in the issuance of a Common Access Card (CAC).
