This position is to serve as an Information Technology specialist and administrator for the Naval Logistics Technical Data Repository (NAVLOGTD).
  •  Serves as a system administrator responsible for coordinating, implementing, patching, modifying, and troubleshooting various servers' operating systems hosting NAVLOGTD services and applications.
  • Serves as a technical focal point for the installation, configuration and administration of applications and software for NAVLOGTD services.
  • Develops, modifies, and tests overall system backup and recovery strategies for assigned systems.
  • Evaluates machine usage and develops plans for the necessary acquisition to support future automation (hardware and software) requirements.
  • Installs, configures and tests product upgrades and patches within the NAVLOGTD Test Environment.
  • Troubleshoots problems and implements changes on multiple computer platforms, following NAVLOGTD Change Management Practices.
  • Diagnoses system failures to isolate source of problems between equipment, system software, and application programs.
  • Support the implementation of the Cybersecurity Awareness Program to meet Information Assurance requirements.
  • Conduct Information Assurance (IA) audits to analyze results for weaknesses in local security procedures.
  • Implement the Department of Defense (DoD) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) and conduct regular reviews of the STIG for NAVLOGTD applications and assets.
  • Assist Primary Administrator in developing and maintaining Risk Management Framework (RMF) plans and documentation for the NAVLOGTD Accreditation package.
Required Skills
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Security + CE certification.  You will have 6 months after being hired to do so
  • Must Hold a Security Clearance
Required Experience
  • Experience with Information Systems (IS) equipment characteristics, real-time data processing methods sufficient to maintain systems involving data acquisition, analysis and display.
  • Experience working computer helpdesks and networking technologies, including Ethernet cabling (thick, thin, fiber optic etc.), Internet Protocol (IP), utilization of email, etc.
  • Experience identifying computer security issues concerning computers and networks, while understanding the purpose of threat assessment, contingency planning, and system backup/archival procedures.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows, Linux, and UNIX operating systems and LAN Management Architecture.
  • Experience with systems security principles, with special emphasis on layered network architectures and Information System software and hardware security.
