This position will support the development and operation of next-generation bioinformatic tools. The position will work in a small, fast-moving team collaborating with laboratory and data scientists to research emerging and disruptive technologies and deliver cutting-edge software products to the emerging biotechnology market. 
Major Responsibilities
Responsibilities for this position include:
  • Designing and implementing innovative software that:
    • is sophisticated yet user friendly, streamlined and robust
    • performs better than industry standards and effectively scales
    • leverages modern programming languages and functional-programming concepts
  • Architecting and managing cloud-hosted software products that involve the integration of multiple systems
  • Designing UIs to efficiently communicate data to users while maintaining uniform style
  • Supporting management, computational analysis, and interpretation of large genomic data sets
  • Coordinating and automating metrics, logging, scaling, and continuous integration systems
  • Performing advanced research assignments that involves interpreting, compiling and analyzing collected data and writing various technical reports
 
Position Requirements
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with:
    • Python (frameworks: Flask, Falcon)
    • PostgreSQL

    • GitLab
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Engineering and a minimum of three (5) years of demonstrated software development OR a MS degree with 2-5 years’ experience.
  • Strong background in software engineering practices and Test-Driven Development
  • Ability to decompose, generalize, and simplify problems to maintain product consistency
  • Proficient with profiling, testing, debugging, planning, estimating, coordinating, and mentoring
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and proven ability to work collaboratively with development teams to ensure development cycles are maintained
  • Proactive approach to problem solving and commitment to achieving quality results on schedule
  • Strong ability to think up and down the technology stack and isolate technical problems
  • A passion to directly impact science and society
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
