The selected candidate for this role will:
  • Perform and review system level ECLSS architecture trade studies and analyses that will influence the overall design and performance.
  • Perform requirements decomposition and develop requirements.
  • Develop ECLSS verification and validation plans and statements.
  • Investigate technology development opportunities and perform infusion planning.
  • Maintain the Gateway ECLSS technical baseline.
  • Develop integrated module/ECLSS schematics.
  • Develop and maintain the ECLSS Concept of Operations (ConOps).

Required Education/Experience/Skills:
  • BS degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school and a minimum of fourteen (14) years of direct engineering experience, or a MS degree from an accredited engineering school and a minimum of twelve (12) years of direct engineering experience, or Ph.D. degree and a minimum of nine (9) years of direct engineering experience.
  • Experience with the development of space systems requirements documents including functional requirements and verification success criteria.
  • Experience with the design, assembly, verification, testing, and operation of space ECLSS systems including Atmosphere Revitalization Systems, Atmosphere Conditioning, Environmental Monitoring, Pressure Control Systems, and Emergency Systems.
  • Basic knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in the space hardware field, such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, material selection, and design software and tools.
  • Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products.
  • Familiar with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures.
  • Experience with model based systems engineering (MBSE).
  • Experience with fault detection isolation and recovery/ECLSS controller algorithms.
  • Experience with pressure control systems.
