AMS Project Engineer

The selected candidate for this role will:
  • Coordinate with Safety, Materials, and Stress, and Thermal engineers to complete hardware flight verifications and assessments required for flight hardware delivery.
  • Disposition of verification using VERITAS platform.
  • Work alongside project personnel during flight processing of hardware.
  • Identify and procure appropriate test and project hardware.
  • Draft test requirements, plans, and procedures for operation of test articles.
  • Work alongside facility personnel during system assembly and test operations.
  • Perform failure troubleshooting and resolution as needed.
  • Generate essential paperwork and documents for tasks assigned, such as Task Performance Sheet (TPS), Discrepancy Report (DR), Test Plans, and Detailed Test Procedures (DTP).
  • Work in a team environment and report to a project lead/manager to provide status on progress and issues and for support.
Required Education/Experience/Skills:
  • BS degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited engineering school.
  • Self-motivated, team player and adaptability to a dynamic environment and the ability to complete all assignments as required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to coordinate support from a wide range of technical disciplines.
  • Able to organize and prioritize tasks in order to meet deadlines and schedules with limited supervision.
  • Basic knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in the field, such as mechanical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, material selection, testing, and office software.
  • Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings.Must have the ability to visualize and work with complex mechanical systems and work with others in problem solving as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products.
  • Prefer familiarity with JSC pressure systems in addition to DOT, Mil Spec, or industrial experience.
  • 5 years of direct engineering experience is a plus.
  • Prior experience with VERITAS verifications platform.
  • Electrical engineering background or knowledge in addition to mechanical engineering degree.
  • Prior experience with hardware anomaly troubleshooting and failure analysis.
  • Familiarity with common hand tools and proficiency using them to perform assembly, disassembly, and troubleshooting on mechanical systems.
  • Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, ProE, Solidworks, etc.)
  • Familiarity with the Engineering Life Cycle process.
