Orion GN&C Trajectory Analyst

The Orion GN&C Engineer will:
  • Provide analysis of simulated vehicle flight performance of the Orion integrated GN&C system.
  • Perform design and analysis using the NASA/JSC Orion MPCV ANTARES and the Lockheed Martin OrionSim GN&C simulations.
  • Design, develop, and analyze the integrated Guidance, Navigation, and Control (IGN&C) ascent, entry, and abort trajectory performance for the Orion MPCV.
  • Perform Monte Carlo analysis using ANTARES to determine flight performance under various operating conditions.
  • Formally document the results of all design and analysis activities.
  • Directly interact with the NASA customer along with various NASA support contractors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
 
Required Education/Experience/Skills:
  • BS degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school and five (5) years of related engineering experience, or a MS degree from an accredited engineering school and four (4) years of related engineering experience, or Ph.D. from an accredited engineering school and zero (0) years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of six Degree-of-Freedom simulation modeling and analysis, spacecraft GN&C systems.
  • Knowledge of spacecraft mission design, and flight procedures.
  • Experience with Monte Carlo engineering analysis.
  • Ability to identify and resolve Integrated Guidance, Navigation, and Control (IGN&C) performance related issues and the ability to assist others in the resolution of these issues.
  • Strong background in LINUX, C/C++ code development, and scripting languages (Python, etc.).
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment consisting of NASA civil servants and various contractor employees.
Preferences:
  • MS in Aerospace Engineering.
  • Direct experience with the TRICK simulation architecture and the ANTARES or OrionSim GN&C simulations.
