Propulsion Engineer- Commercial Crew Propulsion Sub-Systems

The selected candidate for this role will:
  • Perform test engineering functions for the development, manufacturing, testing and certification of a the Commercial Crew Propulsion Sub-System.
  • Review the design and development, validation and use of analytical tools for prediction of advanced propulsion and fluid systems.
  • Develop essential documentation for the system including assembly procedures, test plans, detailed acceptance test procedures and summary test results.
  • Coordinate test activities and requirements with various NASA test facilities while working safely in accordance with JETS and NASA safety requirements.
  • Review analysis and trade studies to make recommendations on programmatic tasks and actions.
Required Education/Experience/Skills:
  • BS degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school and a minimum of five (5) years of direct engineering experience, or a MS degree from an accredited engineering school and a minimum of four (4) years of direct engineering experience, or a Ph.D. and zero (0) years of direct engineering experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of rocket propulsion systems, engines & components.
  • Knowledge of engineering principles in mechanical engineering, fluid flow, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, kinematics, engineering mechanics and thermodynamics used in the design, evaluation and optimization of propulsion and fluid systems
  • Knowledge of fundamental engineering principles in the areas of materials, structural design, electronics and systems engineering as they relate to how propulsion and fluid systems integrate into an overall vehicle design.
Preferences:
  • Knowledge of Flight Processes/Paperwork or prior working experience with Shuttle or International Space Station flight operations.
