Job Description:
- Support the design, development, and maintenance of our modern VMware solution
- This will include a mixture of hands-on keyboard engineering work as well as documentation and baseline control
- Responsibilities may include the design and implementation of VMWare based tools and products such as:
- vSphere
- VCenter
- Horizon View
- VVols,
- Troubleshoot issues discovered within the environment.
Required Skills:
- Specialized skills required for this position:
- SME – RHEL (Provisioning, Maintaining/Patching, Hardening)
- SME - VMware admin experience (including vCenter)
- Experience using Linux based automation tools (Chef, Ansible)
- Familiar with AWS (gigrel will be moving to GovCloud, this will be sort of a hybrid configuration)
- Linux System administrator
- Experience troubleshooting:
- complex systems:
- multiple servers
- COTS products
- NetApp
- VMs
- VDIs
- and/or network issues
- complex configuration problems or system issues
- networking (Cisco 3850, Cisco ISE, Cisco 5K)
- Familiarity with Splunk (know how to perform search queries to view logs not record in the dashboards if necessary)
- Experience with Network engineering technologies and as a network administrator
- Design and deploy a vSphere distributed infrastructure for an enterprise Design
- Knowledge of scripting skills (i.e. PowerShell, Python, Ruby, bash, etc.)
- General working experience with firewalls (Cisco ASA) and creating ACLs
- Senior level SME with NetApp Storage Administration
- Working experience managing PKI and/or certificates
- Familiar with ACAS (SCAP, Nessus, Security Center)
- Familiar with STIGs and compliance
Required Education:
- Requires a degree and 6+ years of related work experience. Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) preferred
Desired Skills:
- Use vSphere PowerCLI to manage virtual machines and virtual infrastructure
- Experience with monitoring and optimizing performance of virtualized environments
- Understand and apply enterprise design principles
- Cloud Management and Automation (VCP6-CMA) VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP) – Nice-to-have VMWare vCenter 6 VMWare Horizon 7
- Experience with VMWare Integrated OpenStack (VIO), preferably in migrating to VIO from other (preferably AWS) virtualization solutions.
- Infrastructure Components (e.g. Symantec Endpoint Protection, WSUS, RHEL Satellite, VMWare Update Mgr, SolarWinds)
- VMware Certified Professional, Data Center Virtualization 6 (VCP6-DCV) Certification
- 3PAR storage experience is a plus
