Staff Transformational Physicist

Required Education: 

  • Must have a Ph.D. in Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a closely related technical discipline plus 9 years of relevant experience 

 

Required Skills: 

  • Strong background in theoretical quantum mechanics, quantum information theory, condensed matter theory, or superconducting device theory 
  • Familiarity with computational methods for analysis and simulation of quantum systems 
  • Programming experience in C++, Python, MATLAB, or Mathematica 
  • Proven skills at tackling/solving complex problems 
  • A strong ability to learn new topics quickly in a fast-paced environment 
  • A highly motivated self-starter 
  • Works well in a collaborative, diverse environment 

 

Desired Skills: 

  • Strong background in linear algebra and/or numerical linear algebra 
  • Experience with tensor network algorithms 
  • Familiarity with quantum information, quantum error correction, and/or fault-tolerant quantum computation 
  • Familiarity with quantum characterization, verification, and validation protocols including randomized benchmarking and quantum state/process tomography 
  • Familiarity with abstract mathematics including group theory and representation theory 
  • Familiarity with algorithms, quantum algorithms, and theoretical computer science 
  • Familiarity with condensed matter and/or many-body theoretical physics 
  • Familiarity with noise-modeling and/or decoherence mechanisms 
  • Experience with simulation of quantum mechanical systems including time-evolution 
  • Experience modeling, designing and/or simulating superconducting qubits
